Unfortunately and not to be grim here. But even going solar will require batteries for storage and that will mean digging up metric tons of earth to make the required amount of batteries so we can power not so much . It will take an unexpected and outrageous amount of batteries to go solar ( just look at the size of the batteries in an electric car, or to power a toy ) … As far as wind goes! We still need to depend on fossil fuel or other materials to make plastic and light wight materials to make the mills efficient also we will need batteries for storage . And all of that will require factories and heavy equipment to make it possible (things that use traditional methods of power) Also a problem with the rare or scares material needed like lithium or presses minerals and metals needed for the job (they are not found in quantity as coal or oil are) Until we find a solution for storing the power generated and/or a less invasive way that won’t require moving earth for rare materials It’s debatable, because with politics and big companies the truth gets put aside and the loss is always paid for by the working people.

EVs are not the answer unfortunately. The emissions produced by the diesel equipment used to mine the precious metals for the batteries exceeds what a normal combustion engine would produce in it's lifetime. Not to mention the damage being done just by mining in general. More than likely your EV is charged by your local fossil fuel using power plant as well.

Päivä sitten

Nonsense. The combined CO2 emissions from all sources needed to create a Tesla battery emits the same amount of CO2 as driving a fairly new car for 17.000 miles. That is if the battery is made in Nevada. If it is made in India it is 29.000 miles instead.

My problem with this video and so many like it, is that it IGNORES the fact that CAPITALISM is a religion and a trap that defies rationality. Sure, a devout Roman Catholic "could" reject the dogma of the virgin birth or the resurrection when presented with perfectly rational and reasonable arguments, but then they would be renouncing the faith that they have spent their entire lives believing in. Sure, it happens more often in a world where religion has become less of a unifying social force, but CAPITALISM is the absolute religion of this age. To reject the dogma of unlimited, exponential growth and unlimited individual wealth accumulation would be just as heretical and punished just as severely as heretics during the Inquisition. If you think that is an exaggeration, it is only because the High Priests of Capitalism have not yet felt threatened. When they do, heads will roll and dead bodies will line the streets.

@Gaz Zy Tail end of the ice age? How did you come to that conclusion?

10 tuntia sitten
Gaz Zy
Gaz Zy

@Bluesbr0ther Did it ever occur to you that you probably don't have anywhere near as much say in the climate changes on earth as you think you do? That maybe you are along for the ride? You mentioned the fact that we are in an iceage,  infact this is the tail end of it. Perhaps tempature is rising because of that with there being a lower amount of reflective surface Ice. Also, a significant reduction in carbon sinks due to deforestation is perhaps the real cause of these increases in Co2? . Maybe think about repairing that as a primary goal? We could re terra form large areas of Australia for example seeing as the native population destroyed most of it and dried up its massive lakes by scorching the land and moving on instead of farming it . Moreover, can you even trust the recorded tempature records previous to 137 years ago ? you can't. Not forgetting the fact that the prehistoric tempature data we ser often quoted is infact generated as a total estimation using proxies . But we as humans take this information as gospel, more so than any other area of scientific research .

10 tuntia sitten
Bluesbr0ther

@Gaz Zy We don't know for sure what caused the warming 250 million years ago , how could we? There could have been a massive solar flare or as you say a huge meteor. But we do know that none of our current warming is coming from that. For hundreds of millions of years the CO2 ppm was a lot higher and mankind didn't exist. Then it dropped down to around 300 and we evolved into mankind in a few million years. Did it ever occur to you that mankind isn't geared to live in a high CO2 world?

11 tuntia sitten
Gaz Zy
Gaz Zy

@Bluesbr0ther So you're open to speculation regarding the prehistoric past but you're not open to speculation predicting the future that hasn't happened yet? 🤔 Well, despite that higher Co2 content of the Paleozoic Era, it coincided with an explosion of life during the Cambrian Period when Co2 was at its highest. And that life thrived for almost 300 million years! And when most of that life on Earth was wiped out 250 million years ago, a massive asteroid strike in what is now the ocean near Australia is much more likely the cause. This asteroid gouged a 125-mile-wide crater at Bedout, which was at the time a marshy part of Australia.  An asteroid more than 6 miles wide is the chief suspect in the Bedout event. And this makes some sense due to the 190 confirmed significant craters given in the Earth Impact Database and because scientists believe the Earth has weathered a half-dozen similar catastrophic events in the past 550 million years, including the asteroid impact at Chicxulub on Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula that wiped out the dinosaurs 65 million year ago.

12 tuntia sitten
Bluesbr0ther
Bluesbr0ther

@Gaz Zy But at the end of the Palezoic Era a mass extinction occurred that wiped out 90% of all life on the planet due to rising temperatures. Saying that it wasn't due to CO2 is an impossible claim, we can't be certain what caused the temperature rise. And yes , there has been much higher CO2 in the past but never during an ice age like the one we are currently in.

Climate change is real. You can’t deny it’s effects whatsoever. But humanity isn’t going to stop it, there’s a force that we will never be able to overcome, and that is the judgment of God. The Book of Revelations is being revealed before our very eyes. The Bible agrees with with science a lot more than anyone cares to admit. Those who deny climate change are just as confused as those who refuse to recognize that this isn’t just climate change, but something much much greater that is meant to bring humanity to knees.

In the end we have a few moments of "happiness" and then after a while it goes either to a landfill (lucky option) or burned to ashes for "thermic recycling". It may even end up as "negatjve emissions" in some government calculaton, because it was burned instead of fossil fuels. The human species is mad and completely bonkers.

It's clear that if we stay with our heads buried in the money pit, we will end up with something from the movie Elysium. Neither communism nor capitalism is our solution. It's clear that we need a new system. Fast. Because the planet can't stand it's cancer cells anymore. Nor it should. Just for the past 10 days we saw the hottest heatwave in the history of Canada(49.6°C/121 F) and one in a millenia floods in western Europe and China(for 3 days it rained more than in a year). And don't make me go further back. If you don't believe in climate change and refuse to take actions ok, fine, you just buried your children's future. And going to fkin space is not helpful at all. At least for the majority of us. We need to take our final stand, everyone, everwhere. The 2019 global climate strike was something good. But we thought the same for the Paris Climate Agreement too. Yet,here we are, no one giving a fck about either of them. We don't need a million people. We need fking billion. Until big oil companies buy themselves covarage, nothing will change. We need to either make them know that they are responsible for the death of thousands(which they don't care about either way), or storm their doors and leave them no choice, but listen and do what we want. But how? And here everyone is important. Because there are so many people, smart and capable of doing the impossible. We should do something else than to pointlessly argue with one another. The time for pointless arguments is over. We need actions. Now. If you, if us don't do anything, we are dooming future generations to suffer 100 times more than we will ever do. If we want to reach our greatest future, we should take care of the present. And we suck at it. But it's not too late. We still have time left to fix our stupidity and take care of our home. Because we need it. Remember:Earth can live without us, but we can't live without Earth. It's our choice what will happen...

Most over 35 years old have 0 environmental consciousness it really shows from their actions, it really sucks because not only they are a giant part of the population (if not the majority) they are also the ones who own most (big) companies and the ones who rule the world. I mean, it make sense for them to be like that because they are not that educated on the topic and even the ones who are often don't see it the same way because they didn't grow up with it but we don't have the time to wait for the younger more environmentally conscious generations to replace them.

The earth has enough for everyone's needs, but not for everyone's greed. We need to prioritize caring for people's health, security and education, as well as a decent living standard for everyone, without falling into the consumerist trap. Neoliberal capitalism will not achieve this. The lower rates of extreme poverty mentioned in this video is based on the arbitrary income of $1 a day, which is far too low for anyone to pay for all basic necessities (a more accurate proposed global standard for absolute poverty is $7 a day, even though this doesn't take into account local differences) Meanwhile, the wealthiest 10% (which includes most citizens of wealthy nations) emits about half of global emissions. We need to downsize our consumption and buy durable products with as little packaging as possible. We should demand emission taxes for companies as well, as they are the biggest emitters.

The biggest driver of climate change by far is our meat and dairy consumption. According to the IPCC, about 15% of GHG emissions comes from animal farming right now. Ok however, if you take into account the carbon sequestration of all the lands we destroyed to make space for animals, it is responsible for 87% of global GHG emissions. All we would have to do is stop eating meat and let these forests grow back to what they once were. This fact is not even taking into account the insane negative impacts of commercial fishing for the environment.

CO2 at 0.04% is a 2,500th of the atmosphere. That means to warm the climate by just 1"C carbon dioxide molecules must capture 2500"C of heat energy. That is bonkers. It also breaks all the laws of thermodynamics.  Methane is 0.00017% of the atmosphere so its even more bonkers. However, the climate is changing. This is because of deliberate geoengineering programmes, in particular ozone thinning away from the poles. Though largely unreported ozone thinning effect is directly observable, this summer you will see a unnaturally bright sun just as we did last year. Under these conditions the pain felt when looking at the sun is not only from the increase in visible light but the much larger increase in infrared. (Look up at the sky and you will see a range of geoengineering operations in progress, these include chemtrail induced cloud or hazing, ripple patterns caused by HAARP installations, bizarre and unnatural cloud formations). Climate change is a programme to force change in accordance with the implementation of Agenda 21 /2030. Current events demonstrate this transition is well underway and will involve massive population cull through injected nanotech (re transhumanist programme). Agenda 21 also sees the permanent loss of all property rights with the introduction of universal basic income (ref NESARA/GESARA) and has/is being promoted by The World Economic Forum.  'You will own nothing and you will be happy' WEF In a depopulated world the surviving brainwashed and controlled population will be confined to mega cities. Carbon limits will be used to restrict consumption and liberty. Meanwhile the re-greened wilderness will be the exclusive playground of the ultra rich elite posing as conservationists.  The CO2 hoax amounts to the theft of the world and the enslavement of humanity by a parasitic few.  Welcome to the future! _________ I have included a debunking of 'accumulated heat' as it is so often used to explain how trace elements, so called 'greenhouse gasses', can warm the planet. Accumulated heat whilst sounding a reasonable explanation of how heat can build up is rather nothing more than gobbledygook. In fact it shows those using such arguments do not even understand what heat is. When we measure temperature we are measuring the heat energy a thing is losing. In short heat is a measurement of flow, the transfer of heat energy and this will always be in the direction towards the colder. For this reason a thing can never 'accumulate heat' in the way those advocating CO2 climate change describe. The temperature of a body is the measure of heat output, it can never be greater than the measure of heat input. Output = input. When a thing is warmed it is heated to an equivalent of the heat input. If this input is not maintained it will cool. Those that propose that heat can build up to be hotter than the total measure of heat input at a given time either do not understand what heat is or are being deliberately misleading. To illustrate, an object being heated by a flame can never become hotter than that flame, it's temperature cannot rise inexorably to the temperature of the sun for instance. Heat cannot be accumulated. When we think about it common sense tells us this must be the case. NASA and even Nobel Prize winning physicists have expounded 'accumulated heat' as the explanation how CO2 is able to warm the atmosphere. They claim that over hundreds of years CO2 has captured heat energy and this heat has 'accumulated' to produce a serious warming effect. As I have just explained, this is totally impossible and fundamentally violates all the laws of thermodynamics. That respected scientists should support such uneducated, unthinking nonsense is disturbing and only reflects that in terms of being able to think clearly about a subject they have no facility or inclination. These are the Dark Ages of science. Belief has outweighed logic or any critical thought. It tells us that we should not unquestioningly accept anything we are told, that experts can be fools. (NB: be aware of attempts to discard thermodynamics by talking about biology. Eg. 'It only takes a drop of arsenic to kill a person.' This would be somewhat desperate, muddled thinking. Clearly biological processes based on the reaction of a cell are not the same as the laws of physics/thermodynamics).

"hat means to warm the climate by just 1"C carbon dioxide molecules must capture 2500"C of heat energy." Are you even aware on how little sense this makes from a physics point of few... 1. "capture 2500"C of heat energ" is not a thing... The temperature resultinng from a given amount of energy depends on the material we are talking about and its current termperature... 2. the head capacity is not relevant for the final temperature anyway...we are talking about a shift in the equilibrium flow of energy...A higher heat capacity of the athmosphere would just mean that it would take longer to reach the final equilibrium temperature, but the temperature itself will not change "When we measure temperature we are measuring the heat energy a thing is losing." So you understand that you argument was bullshit...strange... Or i think its more likely that you neither understand your former argument and your argument here.. "In short heat is a measurement of flow, " it is but thats not relevant. heat is not the same as temperature. " the transfer of heat energy and this will always be in the direction towards the colder." Only the NET transfer of energy. Thats relevant. " The temperature of a body is the measure of heat output, it can never be greater than the measure of heat input. " Except earths surface emits more energy than it is recieving from the sun.... Which either means 1. you argument here is wron 2. you are misssing something... Its the second one btw... Greenhouse gases are "reflecting" emitted energy back to the surface resulting in a de-factor increase of energy recieved at the surface level " Those that propose that heat can build up to be hotter than the total measure of heat input at a given time either do not understand what heat is or are being deliberately misleading. T" Its neither. They understand the greenhouse effect..you clearly dont... Its also funny because following you logic clothing would not help keep us warm either.. " To illustrate, an object being heated by a flame can never become hotter than that flame," Yes but the earht is not hotter than the sun....You have no argument there. "Heat cannot be accumulated." Well becaue heat is by definition energy in transfer... But energy can be accumulated... Thats what happends when something gets warmer

Wrong on population size 100%. It's CONSUMPTION RATE not amount of people. Essentially, its too many consumptive RICH PEOPLE. People like Bill Gates, Leonardo Decaprio, Elon Musk, Chloe Kardashian. Not a character judgement. Just a numerical and physical fact.

250 million years ago CO2 levels were 100 times greater than what our current so called "scientists" say is needed to kill all life on earth. But life flourished back then. Anyone with wisdom should know that these people who lack it may have intelligence but zero common sense or they are trying to deceive the dumb people.

@Bluesbr0ther Just think about what your "believing" in. Your side has told us all "ITS THE END OF TYE WORLD" every ten years, AoC gave an end of the world threat 4 years ago she said we have 8 years left until total destruction. sound christian yet before that were many others every 10 years the world was supposed to end if ppm didn't go down and by god they only went up. yet the only forests burning are wildly mismanaged and appear to he set ablaze purposely after antifa and BLM and jussie smollett who doesn't believe Democrats would burn the forests to try and trick people?

@Bluesbr0ther Obviously if you read anything produced by any scientist who isnt making money directly from climate change related Grant's or television deals they will all say the same thing. Climate change is like Santa claus it's a good story for dumb people because it fills in all the blanks and makes "them" feel intelligent.

Päivä sitten
kadak kadatian
kadak kadatian

@Bluesbr0ther Its how REAL MEN talk, not little girls who rely on men for detailed information which is always wrong anyway. To say you know exactly what the ppm were is a lie. But they estimate through geological analysis that its 3000 to 9000 ppm 50 million years ago and its went up and down often throughout the years in the 1600's a volcano went off covering all the earth blocked out sunlight almost completely for an entire year ppm was around 6000 but scientists fail to bring it up because the life giving CO2 emissions change all the time.

@Bluesbr0ther And let's address the other morbid stupidity that exists with the absolute christian like belief in climate change. There have been HUNDREDS of extreme weather changes. Let's ignore the fact that you admitted completely to humans not having a thing to do with climate change when you desperately used the chixalu event extinction as an excuse to desperately hope at convincing someone, anyone that any of this nonsense is slightly real.

Contrary to what is assumed in this video, there absolutely are alternatives to growth-centric society. This requires imagination and solidarity—against, for instance, oligarchs like Bill Gates who are literally, in this case, bankrolling the narrative that their capital is natural. The phenomenon of the prioritization of growth “regardless of government type” is a misnomer because we live in a world dominated by capital that fights against any alternative. The solutions presented here, of progress understood as corporate technological growth, cannot solve a problem that they made inevitable. These videos are beautiful but sometimes spew Malthusian bullshit.

In short, free economy and capitalist ideology is at big fault.. Is it time we move to better model than them, but what, and is it doable? I still think rebound effect will be stronger even with innovation, given growth is the target of capital driven society.

Really climate change is getting everyday more serious with its invasion, Its true! "The more population grows, The more CO2 is emitted in the athmosphere We need too stop this and too there is no planet in the exact level to keep life. And even if there is all humans will do in it will be: pollute it making it end up the same as earth. And with more diseases that time is throwing at us the population will decrease and increase again. With coronavirus here there is no cientific explanation if we are ever gonna survive the coronavirus. but the spanish flu was worse.... For now lets survive and try to take care of the earth..... This can save bilions and milions of lives. With oxygen levels lowering and Carbon dioxide leves increasing humanity is making earth's fate go in extintion even tho we have some bussineses are working in help with the plastic pollution decrease the whole talk isn't about that! We can get to the worse end than restart.
